Albon has mixed feelings about Dutch GP: ‘It is what it is’

It was a great weekend for Alexander Albon. Finally the Thai was able to compete for the higher spots again. After the race, he says it was the best weekend of his time at Williams.

All weekend, Albon had good speed. In qualifying, this earned him fourth place. Immediately after the start it started raining, but Albon stayed outside on the softs. At the start, this meant he lost a lot of ground, but until the red flag situation he was able to make up for it. In the end, the Williams driver finished eighth.

Mixed feelings for Albon

It’s still an amazing result for us,” began Albon to GPblog and others. “We’ve been here on pace this weekend. There’s no mistake about it. It’s been our strongest weekend. It’s the best I’ve got in the car in my time at Williams. And so there’s so many positives to take from here.

Albon continued: “I do think we’ve been a little bit unlucky. I think in a weird way we didn’t take the risks like some others to pit so early on the inter-tyres. Because in that sense it was actually quite a risk to do that. Because it wasn’t actually inters by the time they pit but during the lap itself it turns to inters. So it is what it is. I’m very happy. Kind of. It’s like that mixed happiness.
