Tim Steidten makes feelings clear on striker Youssef En-Nesyri as West Ham boss David Moyes holds out hope of Chelsea deal claims journalist

Tim Steidten has made his feelings clear on striker Youssef En-Nesyri as West Ham boss David Moyes holds out hope of a Chelsea deal claims journalist.

West Ham are fully focused on signing at least one striker before the summer transfer window deadline on Friday night.

After beating the likes of Chelsea to the exciting capture of Mohammed Kudus, the Hammers have been striking a light on their forward search because they’re a striker light after the sale of Gianluca Scamacca to Atalanta.

The same could be said for Chelsea following the injury to Christopher Nkunku and loan departure of Romelu Lukaku.

Michail Antonio and Danny Ings are also being linked with moves away from West Ham.

Hammers cast net far and wide in search for new striker

The Hammers have been linked with PSG’s Hugo Ekitike, Sevilla’s Youssef En-Nesyri, Brazilian trio Yuri Alberto, Pedro and Marcos Leonardo and Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez.

And David Moyes holds a longstanding interest in Chelsea’s Slough-born striker Armando Broja.

Technical director Tim Steidten has been spearheading West Ham’s recruitment since a thawing of frosty relations between him and Moyes initially at West Ham.

And the German has been doing so with unprecedented success, just ask Chelsea following the east London club’s acquisition of Kudus.

West Ham are clearly casting the net far and wide in the search for a striker. But Steidten and Moyes are not quite aligned on one in particular according to The Guardian’s Jacob Steinberg.

In a West Ham transfer update for The Guardian, Steinberg says a move for Alberto will be difficult for for Steidten to pull off.

And while the technical director has reservations about signing En-Nesyri, Moyes is still pushing to try and sign Broja from Chelsea.

“David Moyes is looking to bolster his attack before the transfer window shuts on Friday…” Steinberg said.

“Tim Steidten, the club’s technical director, has travelled to Brazil in an attempt to agree a fee for Alberto but alternative options are being explored in case the deal for the 22-year-old Brazilian falls through…

“Steidten is understood to have reservations about a move for the Sevilla striker Youssef En-Nesyri, while Moyes is an admirer of Chelsea’s Armando Broja.”

Moyes must cede to Steidten because Chelsea boss has made position abundantly clear on Broja

Moyes, like he did with Harry Maguire, is wasting his time barking up the Chelsea tree for Broja.

Mauricio Pochettino has made it clear on several occasions – and again this week – that he rates the Albanian highly and sees him as part of his plans at Chelsea, particularly in light of the long-term injury suffered by Nkunku.

West Ham cannot afford to waste time chasing lost causes with the deadline two days away.

So perhaps Moyes needs to cede the striker decision to Steidten given his hit rate so far in this window.
